WAKE UP!!!!

Yes, this is how the girls look in the morning. They are sick, tired and oh-so-excited to get the day going! But check them out later, they recover well!

Springboard Girls in NYC! Day 3!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Today was so much better, weather-wise. It wasn’t super warm, but it stopped raining. Yeah!

We saw two agencies today, APM Models and DNA. All good.

Then we walked and shopped SOHO and walked and walked and walked Chinatown. We finally found our lunch spot on the East side of Chinatown – The Dumpling House. It was worth the walk and the wait for a table. Yummy.

Some things we saw:
1. Flopping fish delivered to Chinatown.
2. Lots of shoe purchases. Go girls!
3. Bag…we could hear the whisper “coach, chanel, gucci…” Hmmmmmm.
4. Bubble tea.
5.  I <heart> NY tee shirts.
6. Great archetecture – the Flatiron building and government buildings close to the financial district.
7.  The subway!

Sad news: we arrived at the Palace Theatre to see Legally Blonde and IT WAS CLOSED! We couldn’t believe it. The doors were locked and there was a note on the door that gave info about refunds. HOWEVER, we are going to find tickets to a show tomorrow. We must!

Here are the girls on their first subway ride! “R” Train from 23rd street to Prince!

NYC Day 2, Part 2

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

It finally stopped raining. Yeah! But it is so cold.

We headed down to an old stomping ground of mine tonight, Tortilla Flats. It’s a crazy place. That’s probably why it’s still around after all these years. It was Bingo nights, and Jessie won! She got a tee-shirt and shots for the table (see below). Sorry parents, we had to drink them! Oh yeah, they were alcohol-free.

After dinner, we walked through the West Village, down 5th to Washington Square Park, then down McDougal Street in the Village. The girls thought it was “cool” and couldn’t believe that we’d found a quieter neighborhood.

Here we are at Tortilla Flats. Notice the decor!

Rain, Wind and Cold Didn’t Stop The Springboard Girls on Day 2 in NYC!

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

It was freezing, windy and raining. We walked and walked and walked. And yes, we saw agencies in our drenched clothes and hair.

From the girls’ mouths:
1.  Bring rain boots.  See Jessie’s feet below!
library-4963.jpg

2.  Don’t buy umbrellas at the dollar store.

3.  You must take constructive criticism from agents.

4. Agents are laid back and casual. See Robin with Judy and Doreen from Wilhelmina below.

5.  Girls LOVE NY Pizza. There is none better…

6. We waited and waited for Robin to wrap it up…see below.

We’ll send you more later tonight. In the meantime, here is a pix of a desk at Wilhelmina Models and you can see Lauren in the background meeting with the agent.

A few of us stayed out in the elements to see the Fashion Institute of Technology’s History of Fashion exhibit and the Gothic: Dark Glamour exhibit. Very cool.
